This and That

Well.....I realize that it's been several days since I posted, but I had finals this week. They're done and so I'm back. I just have a few random things to post anyway.

First of all, I think I'm losing it. The other day I was out watering our garden and pulling a few weeds. Hunter and Tanner were playing on the lawn. Hunter took something from Tanner, so there was an all out fight. I looked up to tell Hunter to give it back, but at the same time aimed the hose (which was on full blast, by the way) at the ground. Needless to say, I was splashed from head to toe (literally) with mud. Hunter says to me, "What happened, Mom?" (even though he saw the whole thing) and do you know what I almost said? "It doesn't matter, Hunter!" I mean, after all, that's what he would have said to me. I thought better of it and simply chose to ignore the question, but I wouldn't say that that's a very good sign for me. I started to clean myself off and then realized that if Kyle had been home, he would've taken a picture for all of our posterity, so I took one myself. I know I'm sweaty and my arms and part of my face are already cleaned off, but you get the idea anyway.

Anyway, I also have some cute pictures of my kids to post. I mean, let's face it, my blog is mostly about them anyway. And even when they're incredibly naughty, they look really innocent and sweet in their photos.

Hunter likes to wait in ambush with his squirtguns for Daddy to come home from work.....or for Tanner or I.....or the dogs.....you know, anyone who happens to walk (or crawl) by who isn't protected by the fact that they're indoors. He's a weasel, but a cute one.

This is as close as Tanner gets to walking.....STILL. And he doesn't even walk with that thing. He pushes it up against the couch so it can't roll and then just stands there smiling like he's doing something amazing. It's cute. Although I would like to point out that he's 13 1/2 months old and still won't take a step even. Ugh.

We bought covers for our couches. Since it became obvious that I wouldn't be getting new couches any time soon, I insisted on new covers. They're a sort of tan, microsuede. I love them! And actually if you look at the picture of Tanner "walking" you can see why the covers were necessary. The flower couches had their day, but those days are definitely past. Since there were more threadbare spots, than not, I'm pretty sure it was time. Anyway, we put them on when the boys were already in bed. Hunter woke up and was in love with them instantly. He wouldn't get off of them for over an hour. They don't fit as snugly as I would like, I have to constantly tuck and retuck, but they are definitely better than nothing, so no complaints here.

Tanner loves spaghetti. Both of my kids do actually. And fortunately for us (or unfortunately in this case) Tanner has to feed himself. He holds the spoon in one hand and eats with the other. You would'nt believe the temper that shows itself if you don't hand him his bowl fast enough (or if you know Kyle or I very well, maybe you would believe it). Anyway, he's sure cute even when he's dirty.

And a little side note. I've always picked my kids' noses. I hate it when they have crusties of any sort (Crystal will appreciate this confession). Well, thanks to my unhealthy obsession, Hunter loves to pick his nose. I've been trying to teach him to use a Kleenex. I think he's finally getting it although I wish he wouldn't announce it. About five minutes ago he grabbed a Kleenex and started messing with his nose. Then he yells out repeatedly (until I make eye contact and praise him), "Mom, boogers! I got it! Got boogers!" Oh, good. Not so loud please. I don't need Hannah and Jake hearing about your boogers.

I DO appreciate the crusties comment. And Austin has been sick lately so you can imagine what I've been doing. Although, it's been runny most of the time, so I just chase him with an "Austin rag." I have washcloths specifically for him. I also like the spaghetti story, and the couch covers. Luckily our garage sale find couch is striped, so a little more decade neutral.

I sure miss you guys and the fun part of your boys growing up. If I'd have been there though you might have had to pick me up of the ground from laughing so hard.)

And Tanner and the spaghetti was hilarious. I seem to remember Hunter being the same way though. They seem to be growing up as indepent as their Mother was.

They are sooo cute! Please, pray that we have cute kids too! ha ha I LOVE your new couch covers! It looks really good! No wonder Hunter didn't want to get off because they look really comfy! The perfect napping couch, speaking of which, I'm going to need one soon already - it was another rough night! *sigh
