HUNTER USED HIS LITTLE POTTY! And by used, I mean, actually went to the bathroom in it! For those who don't know, Hunter has what the doctor referred to on our last visit as a mild case of anxiety. We've had him tested by the early child development specialists with the school district because we were concerned about his lack of interest in socializing with other kids. He also has a lot of abnormal fears that seemed kind of extreme. Anyway, the testing revealed what we knew already, he's INCREDIBLY SMART, but seems to have mild anxiety. So, it's now out of the school's hands and into my pediatrician's (who's amazing, by the way). She thinks he'll outgrow it by age three or so, which is excellent news for us, and he seems to be improving a lot already. Anyway, you're probably wondering what this has to do with him using the potty, but we've attempted potty training before and he developed a horrible fear of the toilet (not just the big one, but his little potty too). He would cry and cry and cry if we even mentioned using the toilet or buying him his own Elmo underwear (which I thought would be a motivator, but instead induced hysterics). So, when I say this is a miracle, for us, that's exactly what it is! I was getting ready to give him a haircut and he ran to his corner where he "hides" to use the bathroom in his diaper. On a whim I said, "Oh don't hide, we can use the potty." He actually sat there, but did nothing. So, I just left him undressed and started cutting his hair. In the middle of his haircut he said, "Hunter pee." and pointed at his little part. (He's eloquent, I know). I grabbed him and put him back on his potty. For a minute, nothing, but then I heard the sweetest sound. I know you're all thinking I'm disturbed, but this is truly the best thing that's happened to me in like 6 months. Anyway, we're so proud of our little man! Of course we made a big to-do of the whole thing and he felt like a King by the time we were done praising him. I promised him his own sticker chart and everything, which he wouldn't quit talking about, by the way, so I should probably get on that before he thinks his Mother is a liar. Anyway, sorry to be so graphic, but I'm ecstatic, so you'll all just have to deal with me for today. And since I have to get back to my mound of homework anyway, I'll spare you any more details for now.

That's great news! Hopefully he'll keep it up now! :) I love his caveman talk - "Hunter pee." heh heh
Way to go Hunty. great Grandma is proud of you too. Won't be long now before you are wearing Elmo pants.
I am so excited for you! I know how it feels to be so proud of your child for thing that you think no one else would even care about. I do think that is awesome!! Way to go!
I can't think of a single person who would mind your "graphic description" (which really wasn't graphic at all by the way) and who wouldn't share in your excitement for this big moment. Congrats. I wish mine would be potty trained, alas, he's only 10 months...Haha. Again, congrats!!!
A few thoughts:
#1 Don't ever let that kid hear you call it his "little part" unless you want to pay for the years of ensuing therapy that follow a comment like that.
#2 Your phrase "the sweetest sound" seriously cracked me up. Life is all about the small victories.
#3 Hunter's mom IS kind of a liar so you better get crack-a-lackin' on that sticker chart. If you don't, he'll be wearing diapers to his prom.
what a happy day! Potty training really is a wonderful milestone to get past.
