Off to the Races.....For Real This Time.

Gramps, Tanner, Hunter, Kyle's Uncle Scott, and Jim Langdon (a good family friend).

So, we finally took the kids down to join Gramps at the horse races. Hunter was thrilled.....not thrilled enough to make him behave, of course. We got there during race 5 out of 9, so that will tell you exactly just how long it took him to do what he was asked. Oh boy. ANYWAY.....delay aside, they had fun. They probably thought that it was just as exciting to watch the tractors smoothing the dirt between each race as it was to watch the actual horses, but that's our boys for you. Every horse Hunter picked lost, but he didn't seem to notice (and no, our 3 year old was not actually gambling on a horse race.....he just liked to pick his favorite). Oh wait, and every horse I picked lost too. I guess that's what you get for always choosing the jockey that's wearing pink. Whatever. Anyway, so aside from Hunter hogging all of my fruit punch slushie, we had a good time.

I remember my first (and ONLY) trip to the races with Kyle...that was my Labor Day P-Day in Ruidoso. I didn't even TRY to pick horses since I had no clue what was going on. I just watched, smiled, and took some pictures (and got a sunburn).

I love the pic of them watching the tractor. I can just hear them whispering in awe:

Hunter: "This is the most incredible thing I've ever seen."

Tanner: [grunts]
