Happy 29th Birthday, Kyle! (only a little late.....)

I know, I know.....third post. I'm on a roll. On the 10th, we celebrated Kyle's 29th Birthday! I meant to post this then, but things have been a little crazy, to put it mildly. Anyway, Kyle is always complaining that I don't put any sweet, wifely "tributes" to him on our blog. I've explained to him repeatedly that something praiseworthy is required to receive my blog praises, but he just misses it.:) Anyhow, anyone that knows us knows that we're pretty different. They also probably know that we tend to clash in many obstinately stubborn sorts of ways.....all of which I generally love to blog about. HOWEVER, there are also many things that I appreciate about Kyle, so I thought I'd share.

1. He loves giving service. I can honestly say that I don't know ANYONE who enjoys helping people more than Kyle. Whether it be friends or strangers, he's your guy.
2. He can fix almost anything. If it's broken, he'll fix it. He has a talent for it. And if he doesn't know how to fix it, he'll learn how (which is amusing for a guy who claims to have a hard time learning from what he reads).

3. He's incredibly fun. He always likes to be doing something, which means we get to do a lot of fun things and have a lot of fun experiences.

4. He's great about sharing his talents with his kids. Hunter and Tanner love everything that Daddy does. They love four wheeling, hunting, Jeeps, the fish hatchery......you name it, they love it. They love to watch his hunting videos and are always putting them in to watch. Most guys would be annoyed by this and would be mad that their kids touched their DVD's, but Kyle surprisingly wasn't. He taught them both how to take out and hold the DVD's so they wouldn't scratch them and lets them watch them every day. I was impressed.
5. He's a really hard worker. He constantly goes above and beyond at his job, making sure he does everything right. And he can do the amount of work that three people can in the same amount of time. He's practically a work horse.....seriously.6. He's a good friend. I can't believe how many Birthdays and important things he remembers. He treasures his friends like they're his family.....and in many ways, they probably are.

7. He fulfills his church callings. Kyle's in the Elder's Quorum Presidency which requires him to teach on the occassional Sunday. This horrifies him almost to the point of making him sick, but he does it. And it doesn't matter how exhausted he is or whatever, he always completes his assignments. I appreciate that in a person.

8. He takes the time to wrestle and play with his boys. It doesn't matter how hard we try, there are just certain roles that a Mom can't fill. I'm grateful that he'll wrestle and rough house with our boys (even though he generally does this at bed time and riles them all up, but still). Boys need that.

9. He takes the time to teach our boys to do things. We all know that as a general rule it's faster to just do things yourself, but he takes the time to teach them. He teaches them to use tools and lets them help him fix things. He teaches them how to work and helps them figure things out. They're both 100 percent boy and he's teaching them how to do that.
10. He has the desire to provide the best life that he can for his family. Desire can go a long way if we'll let it.
Anyway, Kyle, we hope you had a great Birthday! We appreciate all you do for our family and enjoyed spending the day with you (even if Hunter did tell you about the hunting call "HE bought you for your Birthday" in advance). We love you!

What a great post about Kyle! He is such a fun person with such a funny humor! I hope his birthday was great. Also, it still blows my mind too, that he is serving in the church. I always knew he'd be the best member! :)

Happy late birthday KYLE!! I have to agree with your comment about doing the amount of work that three people can do. He was able to completely destroy our yard (tramp torn apart included) in a couple of hours:)

Bri I always told you that you had a keeper. I hope that Kyle got his card on time. Wendy didn't even get hers. I don't know about the mail these days as David got his. In reading your blog it reminded me so much of your Grandpa. they were both outdoors men.You couldn't ask for a better model for your boys to grow up around.

Funny you should mention the thing about Kyle not reading much...I was just gonna say "hey Kyle, BriAnne might do some wifey tributes to you if you would read!" HAHAHA..."Book? What's a book?" You know what I'm talking about Kyle. Don't act all surprised.

Seriously, Kyle is a great guy! I feel incredibly lucky and blessed to know him and to have served with him as a missionary...heck...I even let him kill me on the mission! Hope your birthday was happy even if you are a total redneck. It's what makes it all fun! =)

P.S. when I visit, I will >>not<< be wanting to be watch your hunting videos Kyle. Thanks

Happy Birthday Kyle! Oh, and by the way Bri, if Kyle is 29 this year, doesn't that mean that you will be the BIG 3-0? I'm just saying(Mr. Gellar on Friends)...anyways, love your guts and can't wait to see you guys.
