I'll start with the good news:
1. I had my doctor's appointment today and my blood pressure had dropped enough to put me in the normal range.....at least for now. So, the doctor says no more bed rest for me for awhile. I was ecstatic. I know.....you're wondering how there could be bad news after this, huh? But there is. Hold on, I'll get to it.
2. Although our little girl is still a little on the large side, she's slowing down. I'm only measuring about a week ahead (which is better than two) and the ultrasound showed she's in the 71st percentile. She may not end up being part giant after all. I'm pretty sure this is because she's either a ninja or a gymnast and burns extra calories. Why do you suppose a baby would do repeated somersaults? Can they not get dizzy? Sometimes I wonder.
As for the bad news:
1. My appointment took almost 3 hours. That's enough to drive anyone crazy.
2. My doctor walks in and informs me that the tests I did a week and a half ago (the ones to check my kidney function that the nurse assured me were normal on the phone) were actually not normal. Say what? He didn't call because he didn't want to "alarm me" and knew he'd see me today. Apparently I'm spilling protein and my kidneys aren't functioning normally.....and they're not sure why. Soooo, I had to do MORE lab work on top of my glucose test. He must have told me three times not to panic about this YET, but it's a little unnerving to know that some of your major organs aren't functioning properly. Anyway, so I have to be seen every two weeks, instead of once of month and they have to run urine/blood tests EVERY time. He says that sometimes this happens with pregnancy and the problem can just resolve itself, so for now we're watching. If it gets worse, I'm assuming he has a plan B. Anyway, it totally sucks, but the baby is okay and so far, so am I, so I can't complain YET.:)
3. I had to get a shot today.....on top of my blood work. In case I haven't mentioned it before, I hate needles. Anyway, I have RH Negative blood, so I have to get a shot at 28 weeks with every pregnancy and then another after delivery if my baby's blood is RH Positive. There's a really good and long explanation for this, but since I have absolutely no medical training, I won't even try to explain it. Anyway, this one really stung! They give you this shot right in the butt. The nurse called it my hip, but let's face it, if you have to partially drop your drawers and she's behind you, that's your butt. It reminds of the scene in the Pearl Harbor movie. Anyhow, it's much better there than in your arm, but still. You'd think that with all of my newly acquired fat back there that I wouldn't feel a thing. The nurse said it was because it was muscle, not fat. Now, I realize that your butt is a muscle, but I believe that area is perfectly capable of adding fat on top. I told her I was positive that muscles didn't have dimples like that....or grow so rapidly from just laying on the couch. She just laughed. You know, I'm fully aware that I'm not a trained nurse, but these people just never take me seriously. I wonder why that is?
4. We were supposed to get a 3-D photo of the baby at our ultrasound today. Well, not to be graphic or anything, but my placenta is in the front this time. This would be fine and dandy except that she had her face pressed into it and wouldn't move for the photo. The ultrasound tech tried, but she wouldn't budge. She switched it to the 3-D screen and our little girl looked like Skeletor. (Her words, not mine). She said not to be alarmed because our baby definitely doesn't look like that. Anyhow, this is very annoying because I wanted to see if she looks like Hunter or Tanner. Ugh. Bonus, since I'm such a "special case" I'll get more ultrasounds and maybe she'll cooperate next time.
Anyway, it's been a long day! I'm excited to be off of bed rest (at least for the next two weeks), but I'm kind of nervous about my kidneys. I guess only time will tell. So, thanks for listening to my ranting. I totally realize that I could've said all of that, minus my sarcasm, using a lot less space, but what fun would that be?

It wouldn't be any fun. I love your blog. I'm glad that you are off of bed rest for now. Yes, I know what youe EH negative blood,, that is one thing you got from me. Sorry it wasn't the easy delivery. Your kidneys will be fine, I'm sure.
You can always make me laugh, I love it!! Glad to hear your BP went down but sorry to hear about your kidneys. Don't you love how they say not to WORRY about it right now. Please how can you not!! I hope everything works out and you get a good look at her during the next ultrasound:)
I'm glad you don't have to lay aroiund anymore (well by dr.'s orders anyway! haha), but I hope the kidney's will be okay! That could be scary, but don't think about it too much because I'm sure you'll be fine! YAY for more ultrasounds! They're the best!
Hey, my parents got their mission call this afternoon and we're all going out to Airdrie (to their house) for the big opening tonght!! Will keep you posted!!
I am glad that you make your ranting long, you make me laugh! I am so sorry to hear about that. I hope that everything is OK. Thanks for the Christmas card by the way. Oh and I totally agree about the butt thing. The girls at work try to tell me that I look fine but I am the one that sees myself naked and I know that there are so many dimples and stretch marks that weren't there before. Besides one of these same girls told me after I had Benjamin that my butt got big when I was pregnant and now she is trying to tell me that it isn't now?! HA! I'm bigger than I was with him! Wow this is really long. My baby does an abnormal amount of flips in me too, Benjamin was not this active. I hope it isn't a sign of things to come. Again I really hope that everything gets better. Thanks for the updates.
well i guess there was some good news but I would be a little nervous also. good luck we will be thinking of you.
Well, if it's not one thing it's another, right? At least you're off bed rest. Now you can keep the kids out of trouble...as well as Hunter and Tanner ;)
P.S. I love your humor!
We had a 3D ultrasound at week 18 and let me tell you, they are no where near as cool 3D movies. There's a reason why we didn't post it on our blog!
