Off to the Races!
So, Hunter and Tanner were watching 'Derby Stallion' this morning. You know, the awful movie with Zac Efron? (Oh, and please don't ask why I own such a heinous flick.....I could never find a reason sufficient to explain away a purchase like that). Anyway, all of the sudden, they're getting themselves dressed and Hunter is prattling on about how they're on their way to the horse races. What? Tanner's outfit would've been much more ridiculous had I not been correcting it the entire time. If I'd realized they were trying to dress up as jockeys initially, I would've left it alone. (Don't ask me why I'm obsessed with making sure my kids match. My Mom let us wear whatever we wanted, so maybe some of the hideous outfits that there are photo documentation of have inspired my behavior). ANYWAY, they were pushing around their "horses" in the buckets of tractors for whatever reason. Hunter's horse was actually a deer and Tanner's a dinosaur. I find this crazy since they actually have horses, but whatever. Then again, I could be to blame for that. (At the failing of all other forms of punishment, we've resorted to taking away toys when they don't listen. If they don't clean their room when told, the entire floor goes in plastic bags until they earn them back by listening. If they tell us 'no,' I take more toys, etc., etc. This is our new experiment and is only just beginning to work, which would explain why their room is nearly empty of any and all fun objects and my room looks like a toy store.) Anyhow, Hunter insisted I take their picture "going to the races." He informed me that "the vests are what the guys that ride horses wear." So, here's a picture of my goofy "jockeys." Don't ask me why Hunter is doing the splits or why he supposes jockeys wear Elmo slippers, but he assures me they do.

Hunter's been really into picking his own clothes and getting himself dressed lately. I never thought I'd give in to this (see the aforementioned matching complex), but maybe I'm just too tired to care now that I have three kids. Either that, or my eyes are so blurry from lack of sleep that I don't even notice. Anyway, the above picture is a typical result of these occasions.
