I have a 3 year old!!

Okay, well, technically I have a 3 year old tomorrow, but we celebrated Hunter's Birthday last night. Kyle's leaving to go hunting on his Birthday and so we're leaving this evening to go over to my parents' house early for Thanksgiving. Kyle will meet us there later. Hunter thinks he's 3 already so that's all that matters. Anyway, I'm feeling a little bit aged, but it was sure a fun Birthday.....3 is a fun age.
Both of my boys are still balloon obsessed, so I don't know why I even buy presents at all. A pack of balloons costs what? A dollar? I could really financially benefit from these circumstances if I wouldn't feel so guilty about it. Well, that, and Hunter's been asking for this toy lawn mower for months. They have one in the nursery at church and he's obsessed with it. As a matter of fact, he never lets it go, so I'm pretty sure that none of the other kids have ever even touched it. Well, we found it and got it. It was the desired hit.....unfortunately for me. Turns out, the thing's unbelievably loud. It's spring loaded and has the balls that bounce inside the window like those popcorn popper toys. Well, the one in the nursery is well worn and much quieter than our new mower. He mows from the living room, down the hall, into his bedroom, and back......for hours at a time. You can't hear anything else while he does this and I'm nearly crazy already. Oh goody! I've debated taking it to my parents' and "accidentally" forgetting it, but I know how much he'd cry, so I can't do it. Anyway, he was pretty thrilled about his new soccer ball as well. We knew he would be. He can already run and dribble a soccer ball, which I find impressive, so we thought we should get him one. Can't say the clothes we got him were a huge hit, but whatever, he needed them and he got them anyway. Tanner had to be held down the entire time while Hunter was opening his presents because he majorly wanted in on that action and Hunter is violently not fond of sharing at this point. For Tanner's own safety, he had to be held. This is the cheesy smile we get from now any time we take a picture. I love it!
Anyway, as for my other "episode," Hunter wanted a John Deere tractor cake. Cool, I can frost that. Oh wait, my kid's allergic to yellow 5 and 6 (the food dye) and those tractors are green and yellow.....full of the stuff. So, frosting a tractor was out. We bought a tractor to put on the cake and I decided to just frost the sky and a hill (chocolate and blue.....all safe). Anyway, I could barely finish it without Hunter hyperventilating. He was so excited. And then, when I put the chocolate frosting in the bucket of the front loader......oh boy, I'm now a cool Mom. Anyway, I thought it would've been cuter if I could've frosted it, but he loved it, so we're good.:)
Hannah came downstairs and had cake and ice cream with us (Jake's out of town) and the Schwendimans came over too. Preston and Cheyenne (two of their kids) are Hunter's good, little friends, so he was thrilled. They ate cake and played and had a great time. Hunter was so exicted about his Birthday. It's so fun to watch at this age. I barely got him to sleep by 10:30 because he couldn't stop talking about his presents, balloons, and friends. What a riot. He's at such a fun age and I can't believe how much I love my little boy. Happy 3rd Birthday, Hunter!

I think the cake turned out perfect the way you did it. I agree with Hunter, the frosting in the front loader was cool! You ARE a cool mom! (I'm reminded of this quote from Martin Ochoa: "Hna. Walker, ju are so cool... y Hna. McCune, ju are too." ha ha ha

Look at your mad skills! You can come up and help me decorate Brianne's first birthday cake! Hunter is getting so big! Can't believe that you have a three year old AND are expecting #3! Where did time go? MAN! Can you believe that it's coming up on 5 years since I've been home (I guess it's been about that long-or longer for you too, eh?) Seems odd.
