Fourth of July Weekend

We spent the 4th of July over in Waitsburg at Kyle's Uncle Tim & Aunt Marge's house. Kyle was helping a bunch of the guys put on a new roof and the rest of us were watching kids and taking care of the food.
Waitsburg is actually home to a lot of Huwes and so we got to watch an excellent firework show a few blocks from the house. I must say, the whole town is big on Independence Day. So, my little Hunter is pretty scared of fireworks. I'm pretty sure it's the loud noises he doesn't like. And it's not surprising because we've always had a few issues with him and loud noises.....he's not a fan. Anyway, he ended up on my lap and then did okay. Tanner watched about three fireworks and then passed out on Kyle's cousin Kimberly's lap. He slept through every boom and whistle and didn't seem to mind a bit. Everyone got a pretty big kick out of that. Hunter actually ended up falling asleep towards the end himself (while cuddling on Mom of course). While passing the time, Kimberly and I took the boys to the community pool. They actually had a really cool wading pool for the kids and Hunter loved "swimming" around in that. Tanner didn't enjoy the water too much this time, which is strange for him, so my assumption is he was just too tired to be into it. That and I didn't have his little tube, so maybe he was nervous, who knows. Anyway, I took a bunch of kids to the playground and Hunter actually did the slide by himself (that's a real feat for him, they make him nervous). He loved it and he also mastered riding his little tricycle over the weekend. He's always had trouble with the pedals, but he's got it down. He's a maniac on that thing. And his cousin, Zack, was even trying to teach him to do wheelies. I've decided that Tanner just likes being dirty. At the playground he just wanted to sit in and throw the wood chips. At the house, he just wanted to crawl through the gravel and dirt, eat bark, grass, and sticks, and spit. Tanner has seen his Daddy spit and watched Hunter repeatedly attempt to spit.....now he thinks spitting is the manly thing to do or something. (I hate spitting by the way). Anyway, he tries to spit everywhere. It usually just lands on his shirt and then proceeds to attract every piece of dirt known to man. That kid goes through more clothes than a newborn baby. Eventually I gave up and just let him be filthy. I even took him out in public filthy and felt no shame. My brother Matt will thoroughly appreciate that, I'm sure.:) He was filthy from head to toe.....dirty face, dirty clothes that looked like he'd been wearing them for a week, even though it was really only a couple of hours, even dirty feet and knees (because his feet are pretty much too fat to wear shoes). Anyway, I've really lost it now.Overall, we had a fun time. The boys loved all the time they got to spend outside (it wasn't nearly as hot there and there are huge sycamore trees in the yard that provide shade most of the day). They don't get to go outside as much here at home because we have no shade really. I make them wait until after dinner usually because if I don't they get too hot in about 15 minutes. They go outside in the middle of the day to play in their pool or run through the sprinkler, but that's it. So, this was a real adventure, or so they thought. Outside from sun-up until sun-dow.....oh the joys of being a child. Anyway, Kyle and the other guys are exhausted, but they did great and the roof looks great. They got it done in two days (only about 25 hours).....pretty impressive. It's good to be home and hopefully we'll catch up on our rest.

Bri, I'm happy that you've updated - I've been waiting :) It sounds like you guys had a fun Fourth Of July. Kennady slept too like Tanner did. It was amazing because the fireworks were so loud, but she really didn't care. I hope that everything is going great with you guys, and I like the pictures of Tanner being filthy :)

Bri...Hunter and Tanner look so big in those pictures! I hope you've been prepping them for my arrival so that they are excited to see me. Maybe you could even make a poster or something-no pressure though. :O) Love you!

Hey Bri, Tanner is a typical boy. They all like to get dirty. Either big or little boys. The bigger ones with oil and grease from cars.
Smile he probably fit right in at the store. If I remember right, it is awful dusty and dirty over in Eastern Washington. I had the same problem with your uncles.

I can't wait to see you and your dirty kids at Wal-Mart! If you could have one or both of them cry while you completely ignore them, that would just be sweet.

You guys had lots of fun is looks like. The boys look cute with their haircuts. My Hunter doesn't have much hair but the top could use a trim and I just can't bring myself to do it so I know how you feel.
