Somebody counted down the days until her Birthday. She could hardly wait to turn five . . . mostly because she thought it meant she’d get to start Kindergarten the next day. She was slightly disappointed to realize that she had to wait until the following school year. But she did enjoy her Birthday, nonetheless. So did we.
I love her charming smile. It changes her whole face. I love that she’s a clothes obsessed, girly girl (not my genes . . . I blame my sister, Kim) and yet, can hold her own with the toughest boy. Her laugh is contagious. She has a heart of gold. And truthfully, even her worst dramatics can be secretly entertaining (once I’ve moved past the fact that her fits couldn’t possibly be more aggravating). She brings just the right amount of girl into our home . . . even though there is not one of us that knows what to do about it. She’s intelligent and athletic and just plain fun. We love you, Hales! We couldn’t imagine our lives without all the frills and the twirling. And I can’t imagine a day where I don’t hear you talking to yourself and imagining up the grandest schemes. You make life wonderful.
