I’m impressively catching up. I don’t see why everyone doubts me. Some people just happen to live in a place where they only get dial-up internet and 6-months ago even their dial-up quit working, okay? It literally freezes the computer if we try to connect. Try not to focus on how depressing this is. As if the dial-up wasn’t bad enough to begin with.
Hunter turned 6 in November. We were at home in Basin City for his Birthday and Thanksgiving . . . and just happened to get a good 6 inches of snow while there. Events like this equal kid-heaven. I even took my pregnant self (minus my coat and snow pants because let’s face it, I couldn’t get them to fit if you paid me) out to help my Hunter make his first snowman. The snow we get is usually dry and we were shocked to discover the best snowball making snow around that morning. I froze, but it was totally fun to spend that time with my kiddos. Hunter enjoyed his Birthday. He likes being 6 because he thinks it means his teeth are going to start falling out. He’s probably right, but I dread that stage. Mostly because it changes their little faces from little kid ones to older kid ones. Hate that. Plus, it’s also kind of an ugly, awkward stage for everyone who passes through it, but how do you explain THAT to a 6 year old? Exactly. You don’t. And since I’m generally a kind person, I kept it to myself when he was so excited about it.
We celebrated with Grandma and Grandpa before we headed to Basin City. My parents know how to roll. Buy the kid Carhart overalls like Daddy’s and he’ll be your best friend for life. That, or watch MacGyver with him, but that’s a story for another time.
Hunter just saw this photo and assured me that he was staring so intently at Daddy lighting the candles because he had to make sure he didn’t drip any wax on his cake. If he did, “he was going to be eating that nasty piece.” Well, good. Glad he was watching in that case.:)
We love Hunter. He’s such a joy to have around. He’s good, smart, and kind. Not to mention cuter than cute. He’s resourceful and creative. His teacher told me at conferences that she wishes every kid was like Hunter because he always listens, is always kind, and every kid in class wants to play with him. That made me really happy as a Mom. You always hope that your kids will grow up to be kind, respectful, obedient, little people and Hunter’s on the right track. Not sure I can take credit for it. He’s always had a good heart. But I hope we help it along. Love this little man.
I had some trouble finding all of their snow gear for some reason and so we had to mix and match and improvise, but we ended up with enough stuff.:)
I love my children . . . and for a multitude of reasons . . . but I think it should be self-explanatory why I love Tanner. He’s my kid whose virtues require no explanation. He wears his heart and his intense emotions . . . and everything else . . . on his sleeve. He’s amusing to say the least. And hey, Hunter has no reason to whitewash his little brother because Tanner does it to himself. He should also probably be a gymnast. Seriously.
