Kids’ Fishing Derby 2011

Hunter participated in his first fishing derby this year at Columbia Park Pond. He got a pole, reel, and t-shirt. He wants to wear the shirt every day and I have to fight him to wash it. He didn’t catch anything, but he truly didn’t even care. He thought it was so much fun. We need to take the kids fishing more. I grew up fishing and I love it, so I’m not sure why we don’t do it more. Anyway, it was especially exciting because Daddy planted the trout for the derby. Hunter thinks it’s the coolest thing that his Dad works at the fish hatchery. In fact, he’s always pretended that he works at the hatchery and is on standby and what not. Lately it’s gotten worse. Kyle gave him one of his old pagers that he can actually make beep. He’s constantly making it beep and saying he has to go respond to his alarms…..so Mom needs to “hurry up with her errands before he has a bunch of dead fish” or explaining that he “can’t do any chores because he just got an alarm he needs to take care of.” I mean, seriously, Mom. He works. What’s your problem?:) It’s really cute watching him put on his belt every day whether he needs it or not, so he has a place to hook his pager and strap on his multi-tool, etc., etc. Love that kid.

Haylee runs away constantly in case you were wondering. Mostly to steal binkies from random babies in strollers. She even stole the gum out of the mouth of one little girl. Not sure how we’re going to survive her childhood. She definitely keeps us on our toes.:)

Look at that fisherman. He is adorable. Wish we could have been there.
