Hunter’s First Hunt

Kyle took Hunter on his first coyote hunting trip at the beginning of June. They got up at 4:30am and went before Kyle had to work. I’m pretty sure that Hunter was more excited about that than Christmas…..and it’s all he’s talked about since. AS a matter of fact, I’m now informed on a daily basis that he’s “growing up and can’t play with those toys any more because he needs to get ready for hunting or to go to work at the hatchery.” He lines up his tools, camo, etc., etc. all over the top of his dresser (makes me cringe, but he thinks it’s organized, so whatever). He wears his rubber boots and gloves ALL OF THE TIME because he’s “on standby and might have to go save some fish.” He even carries around two toy cell phones…..one is his normal phone and one is his hatchery cell (just like Daddy). He’s constantly “talking” to Tammy, Mike, and Richard on his hatchery cell about how they’re killing his fish and about he’s responding to alarms and opening up gates. Oh brother. He informed Tanner the other day that grown-ups don’t play with balloons, they work, and so Tanner was more than welcome to his balloon. It’s amusing, yet sad. He’s only four. Don’t want him to grow up too quickly, but I guess that’s what happens. Anyway, he had a blast on his trip. He was a horrid grump the rest of the day because he’d gotten up so early, but I’m glad he got to go. They didn’t even see any coyotes or shoot at anything, but I don’t think he cared. He got to go…..and that’s all that matters to him. Loves his Daddy.
