Falling Leaves

I love my kids! They are just beautiful, little people with wonderful spirits, good hearts, and fun personalities. I love watching them interact with each other. Each one is so different, but each one warms my heart. One thing they all have in common: a love of the outdoors. Haylee has completely taken after her brothers in that department. The second we step out the door, her little legs start to kick wildly until she gets to get down on the grass or sit on the swing or play in the leaves. (She kicks her legs about anything she finds even mildly exciting and I LOVE that too). Then, when I take her inside I get the wailing and angry arched back (which is what she does when she thinks she's being tortured and mistreated by not getting her way). The boys love watching her smile and get excited by the things they show her.

I love the fall time. I love that it's cool enough to be outside without getting heat exhaustion, but not cold enough to be unpleasant. I love the smell of wet, fallen leaves and burn piles and rain. I love the smell of the wet fields and the crisp air. I love pumpkins and Thanksgiving. I hope that my kids grow up enjoying these things too.

We've had a busy day today and we finally got outside for a little while this afternoon. All three of the kids love playing in the leaves (which totally need to be raked, but that happening any time soon is unlikely). Haylee's a huge fan. She even thinks they're good to eat.....but she thinks anything is good to eat these days. Anyway, what a pretty day!
