The Huwe Reunion

Kyle's Grandpa Lyle's branch of the tree (everyone that was there anyway. Rick was already gone, Scott wasn't there, and two cousins, Melissa and Justin). Back: Steve (Lindsey's boyfriend), Lindsey (cousin), Billy (cousin-in-law), Kimberly (cousin) w/Jacoby, Brad (Allison's boyfriend), Allison (cousin), Becky (Patrick's fiance') w/Karter, Patrick (cousin), Kyle w/Tanner, Me w/Haylee, and Tammy (aunt). Front: Zack (Billy & Kim's), Tim (uncle), Tailor (Aricka's), Marge (aunt), Hunter, Dylan (Pat & Becky's), Aricka (sister), and Kirk (uncle).

Every two years there's a Huwe reunion in Waitsburg over Fourth of July weekend. This is only the third one of these that I've been to, but can I just say that it was scorching hot?! Over 100 degrees and HUMID. For all of those Arizona Tucson Mission alumnists out there.....just imagine El Paso, but not quite so dirty. Sick. Anyway......The kids all had a blast. They always do. Swimming, bike riding, fireworks, tons of good food.....good times all around. They get a pretty good turn out at these reunions so it's nice to be able to see everyone. We had three babies there this year, all staying under one roof, so that was fun. Karter is 6 1/2 months old, Haylee is 4 1/2 months old, and Jacoby is about 5 weeks, I think. What a bunch of good looking kids!

Anyway, Kyle and Billy (Kyle's cousin Kimberly's husband) usually dominate at the horseshoe tournament, but this year they lost to Rick (Kyle's dad) and Tim (Kyle's uncle). Uh oh. I played for the first time ever. Yeah, so I suck, but I was finally able to at least get them to land in the appropriate area, so someone should be impressed anyway. Kyle and Billy did win the wiffle ball golf tournament, so maybe we'll hear the end of the horseshoe loss after all.:)

So, I swear that I'm not a bad Mom, but my little angel got a sunburn. She was wearing sunscreen AND was in the shade and got burnt anyway. I felt terrible, but she still hasn't let out one peep of complaint. She's so good. Anyway, the boys were in the sun wearing the same sunscreen and they're fine, so I'm not sure what happened there.

Haylee was incredibly fascinated by the fireworks. Eventually she fell asleep and would then let out little grunts of disgust when the next firework would wake her up. She's so cute. Hunter and Tanner were still a little scared of them (mostly Hunter) and they had to be held. Hunter actually fell asleep towards the end and didn't wake until morning (halelujah). Tanner was still up (of course) and got to try out sparklers at the house with Daddy.....and burnt his finger. We're not sure how, but now I remember why I hate the dang things. That lung burning smoke and flying sparks just waiting to cause injury. My little sister Emily got a spark from one in her eye as a kid, so our family hates them anyway.:)

Anyhow, it was an exhausting weekend, but it was fun, so that's okay. Did I mention I burnt my scalp.....AGAIN!? I guess that's what happens to nearly bald people.....
