And September…..Moving Right Along:)

My little sister, Wendy, has been sassing me about my blog neglect. Maybe this is because she’s become some sort of blogging goddess and my lack thereof is offensive. . . or maybe she truly misses my wit and charm. Tough to say, but I’m going to go with the latter.:) I actually really do wish I was better about this. . . mostly because playing catch up is horrible.

My Hunter started Kindergarten this year. I was practically traumatized. Not because he wasn’t ready or anything, but simply because he’s my oldest, my first baby to go to school. That makes him old. . . and me, I guess. He started out in Basin City (which is full day) for the first week and for the past several months has been attending Maple Grove Elementary in Battle Ground (which is half day). Come January he’ll be back at Basin City Elementary. He’s excited. He misses all of his little buddies, although I don’t think he’s going to like switching back to full day. Heck, I’m not going to like it. I’ve NEVER been a fan of full day Kindergarten. They can learn as much in half a day as they can all day at that age. They get too distracted and too tired. They spend half of a full day playing anyway. But that’s life. Back to full day he’ll go. I’ve really enjoyed his Kindergarten teacher here and so has he. Mrs. Alekseyeva has been perfect for him. He’s already starting to read fairly well and is getting great with his numbers. Hunter’s my brainiac anyway, so I’m not surprised he does well in school, but I was surprised at how quickly he’s learning everything. I’m pretty sure when I was in Kindergarten we did things like play, learn to draw circles, and play some more. Times have sure changed.:) Anyway, here’s my handsome guy on his first day of school.

Let’s see, in August our yellow lab had puppies and by September the kids were having a blast with the rambunctious little boogers. Hunter and Tanner loved having showdowns with them. They’d get on all fours and growl and crawl towards them. The puppies were intimidated at first, but quickly started dominating.:) It was really cute. Haylee would just squeal in delight any time they’d chase her. . . which was always.

IMG_4505 And just an awesome photo of my gorgeous Haylee. We were actually at Lucia Falls Park doing a photo shoot of my 3 year old niece and I happened to catch my little girl. She’s usually such a cheese ball that it’s rare to catch her with her normal smile, but mission accomplished. I just think she’s adorable in this one (and like I’ve said a million times before. . . I’m not partial, facts are facts).:)

I'd like to see studies on kids who go to all-day kindergarten versus those who go to half-day and see if there's any benefit. Like you, I'm a bit skeptical. Here in Ohio it's optional, but all-day requires additional tuition. I think it was mostly created for parents who work outside of the home more. Preschool here had the same option, but this year the district dropped full-day preschool mainly for lack of interest. We still have half-day (I subbed in there once...was actually fun!!).

I'm glad you blogged again! I certainly missed your wit and charm (and Kyle's...when is HE gonna blog LOL!!), plus I always enjoy your photography skills. It's waaaay past due for you all to come visit Ohio too. :). About as close as I'll get to Washington is going to be to Utah next week...

You are fabulous. I assume Hunter's been in kindergarten in Basin City because you've been heaving your guts out. I bet you were like me and thought maybe, just maybe, this pregnancy would be different. After all, there are all kinds of women who don't spend 4 or 5 months over the toilet. Surely, I could qualify as one of those at some point.... Well, I hope you are feeling better.

And the missing of your blog is most certainly for your wit and charm. You crack me up!!

And your babes are just gorgeous. Who doesn't want to see more pics of them?

I didn't know that you were down in Battleground. I knew that your parents worked there. My friend is the School Psych/Counselor for Maple Grove Elementary--Holly Smith! Small world! :)
